Lenovo s10 ready for delivery

On August Lenovo announced the launch of s10, another netbook class. As with other netbook, this netbook is designed for mobility, ease of use(daily office) and connetivity (when u have modem or wifi connection). With the price tag of 439 USD, will it be able to compete with another netbook that is already exist in the market. You decide!! This is the specification from the official website:

Intel ATOM Processor N270 Single Core ( 1.60GHz 533MHz 512KB )
Genuine Windows XP Home Edition
10.2 WSVGA AntiGlare TFT integrated camera 1024x600
Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
512 MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
80GB 5400
Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless
3 Cell Lithium-Ion
Warranty One year parts and labor (system battery: one year)
Let we analyse the specification.
The good thing
  • Seems like all netbook today is equipped with the same generation of intel atom, some exception maybe hp mini notebook with via processor. With the same clock, we have no doubt. It is able to run standard office application.
  • The good thing for windows slave( peace..), this netbook come with built in original windows xp. Thank Goodness, it is not vista.
  • Webcam is a must.Good.This intel graphic has been proved by other netbook to be able to run video in smooth frame rate.
  • Lenovo also add one touch recovery for easy solution when disaster happen(virus etc).

It can be better
  • What u can get with 3 cell battery? The manufacturer must realize that existing netbook today may already have 6 cell battery inside. The bigger the cell for that small netbook is a must.
  • 512 mb? okay. If this netbook is intended for starter(one that just learn using laptop), then lenovo did the right things.
  • Seems like early version will not come with bluetooth.
  • 80 gb for netbook is fine..yet other may offer larger hard drive.

What other source said?
Laptopmag has come with their review, saying that this netbook has the highest rate for data transfer. 17.4 MBps in comparison to 12.1Mbps by the Eee PC 1000H, 10.0Mbps by the MSI Wind. Video streaming is also not a problem at all. However, for the 10 inch netbook, the touchpad feels cramped eventhough it has multitouch technology.

See s10 in action video below, from laptopmag:

Share your experience about s10. Do you get different specification as listed above? Is this netbook any good? Cheers.
